The EFCC recommend the expertise of 31:8

31:8 is an independent Christian charity which helps organisations protect vulnerable people from abuse. They work with Government, as well as the church, and are well placed to offer advice and support. Throughout the year they conduct training sessions which are instructive, informative and well worth attending.

They recommend that every church has a written Safeguarding Policy that is available to everyone, including the public.

However, to produce a written Policy takes many hours of discussion, questioning and rewrites before it is reasonable and practical.

If you go to the 31:8 website you’ll find a sample Protection Policy that can be adapted for individual churches. That does mean becoming members but it’s well worth the membership fee.

We hope this has been helpful and encourages you to take the necessary steps to protect yourselves. Please feel free to contact us if we can be of further help.
