Churches wanting pastors

With 100+ congregations, EFCC is always on the lookout for Pastors and other staff.

We are always happy to liaise with churches when we spot a man looking for a church. However, many prefer to check out the church first and then approach them directly.  So here are the churches we know are currently searching for the man of God’s choice as their Pastor, or for other staff.

Please note that none of our churches has Home Office clearance to recruit from overseas.

Marden Congregational Church, Kent

Pastor

Marden Congregational Church are looking for a pastor to lead the work of replanting the church. The church has declined in recent years and revitalisation is needed in God’s grace. We currently meet in the afternoons each Lord’s Day as a group of about 6, and we believe that the Lord is guiding us to continue under the leadership of a pastor or pastoral team.

The rural village of Marden is about ten miles south of Maidstone. Many of the residents are commuters, and the village is developing with many new estates being built. We own the church building and two adjacent properties which are currently let out.

The church is part of the EFCC, and we are committed to the evangelical faith. If you are interested in applying to be the revitalisation pastor, please contact Tom Brand (thomasbrand@efcc.org.uk) with your C.V. and a covering letter.

Quinta Independent Evangelical Church

Pastor

Located in the rural setting of Weston Rhyn, near Oswestry, Quinta Independent Evangelical Church is looking to appoint a pastor to replace the current incumbent, who is stepping down after 32 years ministry. This small church would suit a bi-vocational pastor or one who has an additional income stream.

Rochford Congregational Church

Pastor

Rochford Congregational Church are looking to appoint a pastor to succeed Rev. David Saunders, following his fifty-four years of gospel ministry.

We are looking to call God’s servant, someone with pastoral leadership abilities with a 21st century outlook, a zeal for evangelistic outreach to the lost in the local community, and who can lead the church forward in spiritual and numerical growth.

The church is in the heart of Rochford, an attractive market town in Essex that is close to the countryside, and less than an hour away from London by train. The building the church meets in is in good order and has lots of potential. We have regular coffee mornings and weekly prayer and bible study meetings, but we are looking to increase our activities during the week. The church has declined in recent years, and we currently have a congregation of around 35.

We can offer a four-bedroom manse with garage and spacious garden on the Ashingdon Road, about 10 minutes’ walk from the church and town centre. We can offer a realistic stipend. Further information about the church can be found at rochfordcong.org.uk If you are interested in applying, please contact us by emailing Miss Caroline Starling – webmaster@rochfordcong.org.uk

Birstall Community Church

Pastor/Revitaliser

Six miles from Leeds, seven miles from Bradford and nine miles from Wakefield, Birstall Community Church (BCC) sits close to the heart of of this West Yorkshire mill town.  Predominantly a white working class population of around 14,000 is enriched by a small but growing number of non-Yorkshire born residents; the 2011 census indicating residents from 28 different countries living in our community.

Visitors to BCC always receive a Gospel-hearted welcome.  But, because of our age and small number, we are restricted in what we can do beyond that.  However, in 2022, we were supported by EFCC to engage a full-time elder, who has effectively pastored the church while helping us develop policies and systems that were lacking prior to his arrival.  The logic being that an experienced pastor, as he is, would be ideally suited to get the church ready for a new, younger man – who could hit the ground running because all our policies and systems were up-to-date.

We are now ready to move to that second phase and are keen to recruit a special man!  He will need to have a pastor’s heart … because most of us are elderly believers who need a gentle touch to lead us forward.  He will need to have an evangelist’s heart …. because we are desperate to see men and women come to Jesus and we are limited in what we can do.  He will have to have a heart that loves change … because we know that we are not the best ones to engage with a rapidly changing society.  And he will have to have a patient heart … because sometimes are are a little slow on the uptake!

We are praying that we will have our new pastor in place by September 2024 but (much)  sooner would be preferrable.  As we are able, we would want to engage both our existing elder and the new pastor for a few months of overlap, to help our new man bed in quickly and securely.
